The Next Frontier in Change Management: Using Network Analysis to Find Influencers, Populate Change Teams, and Create Social Systems that Support Change
May 22, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am CDTSee website
Behind organization charts and process maps are relationships. People instinctively form relationships on every job in order to solve problems, imagine new approaches, make decisions, access expertise, and complete daily work. These relationships comprise organizational networks, powerful but often overlooked vehicles for change.
In this presentation at the 2017 Association of Change Management Professionals conference, participants will learn how network knowledge can help accelerate success and build support for change. We will discuss how thoughtful use of Critical Connectors—the 5 – 15% of individuals who have disproportionate influence over the network as a whole—can help change management professionals populate teams, build social support, and integrate respected change advocates into the organization.
We will discuss three case studies. The presenter will share how a large city agency used networks to identify influencers and how Bayer CropScience used networks to prioritize change leadership agendas. Then participants will engage in their choice of two case studies and explore how they would use network information to support change management in their chosen situation. We will close with Q&A and discussion of next steps.
